ABOUT KONAVLE AND CAVTAT
Konavle is a region in the very south of Croatia and is the most southern part of today’s Dubrovnik Riviera, with whose purchase the Dubrovnik Republic rounded off its territory in the 15th century. Konavle is a region with natural beauties and contrasts: mountain and valley, green hills and fruit fields and rocky Adriatic coast. Region Konavle is relatively small area close to Montenegro, but it shows variety of the thousand-year-old historical traces even from Paleolithic and Neolithic times which makes this region even more mystical.
Although almost one third of the area of Konavle is covered with forests, there are couple of picturesque places which are great representatives of traditional way of living. Cavtat is one of those hidden gems which preserved natural, unique and exceptionally precious rural architecture and kept traditions through folklore and easy way of living. The Mediterranean relaxed and spiritual atmosphere and the exceedingly pretty town of Cavtat was an eternal inspiration for poems and artists who made this place unique and recognizable.
